In a historic and costly primary battle, Trump-endorsed challenger Ed Gallrein defeated Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie on Tuesday, marking another victory for the former president's influence over Republican candidates.

The Kentucky Republican primary saw incumbent Thomas Massie lose his seat after 14 years in Congress, defeated by Ed Gallrein, a farmer and former elite soldier backed by Donald Trump. With advertising expenditures exceeding $32 million, it became the most expensive House primary in U.S. history.

Massie, who had represented Kentucky since 2012, faced intense opposition from Trump after clashing with the former president on several issues. Trump repeatedly criticized Massie, calling him a "terrible congressman" and alleging he was "really a Democrat" during a campaign event.
