US President Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in separate phone calls about ways to end the Ukraine war and reaffirmed his readiness to work toward a swift resolution.
Background: Occasion and course of the talks
The talks took place on Saturday and lasted nearly 90 minutes in total, according to Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov. Trump reaffirmed his will to work toward a rapid end to the fighting during the call with Putin, as Ushakov announced on Sunday. Shortly afterward, Trump spoke with Zelensky, who used the occasion to appeal to American resolve.
