US President Donald Trump has threatened Iran with the destruction of bridges and power plants should the Islamic Republic fire on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, while the US expands its airstrikes on the country.
Trump's threat and its dissemination
The threat was posted on Wednesday morning (US East Coast time) on the platform Truth Social. The United States would henceforth "bomb and destroy" a bridge or power plant in Iran every time the Islamic Republic fired on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, Trump wrote. On X, he also stated: "Our defense policy is clear: an eye for an eye." At an appearance in the state of Georgia, he further declared that Iran was "not yet ready" for a deal. "But they will be ready very soon," he emphasized — which could be interpreted as an indirect threat.
