Monterrey, 17 June 2026

The Tunisian Football Federation parted ways with national team coach Sabri Lamouchi one day after the 1:5 loss to Sweden and appointed the Frenchman Hervé Renard as the new coach.

The decision was made late on Monday evening. Following the clear 1:5 defeat in the World Cup opening match in Monterrey against Sweden, the Tunisian federation declared Lamouchi's separation effective immediately. The 54-year-old had taken over the position only after the Africa Cup in January of this year and would have been contractually bound until the summer of 2028. In a statement on state television, federation president Moez Nassari justified the move with the desire to set new impulses after the opening thrashing, even during the ongoing World Cup.
