St. Gallen, 26 May 2026
Just days after celebrating a cup victory, FC St. Gallen is facing a major leadership crisis as President Matthias Hüppi's position appears increasingly untenable amid fan pressure and a shifting power balance on the board.
The unrest centers on Matthias Hüppi, who has served as President of the club's administrative board since 2018. His tenure, once seemingly secure, is now under its most serious threat following a series of decisions made in the last 48 hours.
Speaking to the media, a visibly emotional Hüppi insisted that the recent decisions were made solely in the interest of the club. "Sichtlich emotional betonte Hüppi, die in den vergangenen 48 Stunden getroffenen Entscheidungen seien alle im Sinne des Klubs erfolgt, es gehe nicht um einzelne Personen," he stated, according to reports.
