The host of the European Championship will participate in the qualification process, with their placement linked to their performance in the Nations League. This ensures that even host nations must compete for their spot in the tournament.

The quarterfinals, Final Four, and promotion/relegation playoffs in the Nations League will remain unchanged, maintaining continuity in the competition's structure.

Ceferin also assured that the new format would not reduce any team's qualification chances or add extra dates to the international match calendar. 'The new format will not reduce the qualification chances of any team and will not create additional dates in the international match calendar,' he said.
