In Shenzhen, the first tournament phase of the Ultimate Robot Knockout Legend (URKL) launched on Thursday, with 32 teams from various countries competing against each other using T800 humanoid robots.

Format and Participants

The organizer is the Chinese robot manufacturer EngineAI, according to whose information this is the world's first freestyle combat league for full-sized humanoid robots. The first tournament phase runs from July to August; the URKL follows a staggered format across the entire year 2026. The tournament finals are scheduled for November and December.

The league is positioned by EngineAI as a platform for technological innovation and international exchange in robotics. In the current qualifying round, the top 16 will be determined from the 32 participating teams, according to EngineAI. The winning team will receive a golden championship belt worth 10 million yuan, roughly equivalent to 1.44 million US dollars.
