New York, 15 June 2026
Actresses Jane Fonda and Bette Midler demonstrated against his policies at a protest concert in New York on the 80th birthday of US President Donald Trump.
The event was hosted by the "Committee for the First Amendment," which according to its own statements seeks to honor the First Amendment to the US Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and the right to assembly. In cooperation with other organizations, including the protest movement "No Kings," the concert was broadcast nationwide via so-called watch parties in private living rooms, community centers, and stores.
Among the announced participants, alongside Fonda and Midler, were Patti Smith, Julia Roberts, and Robert De Niro. The "No Kings" movement was already involved in large mass demonstrations against Trump's policies the previous year, including on the so-called "No Kings" day of action, which according to organizers brought millions of people into the streets on the president's birthday.
