The US military has bombed targets in Iran for the seventh consecutive night and announced retaliatory strikes against the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) after two US soldiers were killed in an Iranian attack in Jordan.

The new airstrikes began late Friday evening at 6:00 PM US Eastern Time (1:30 AM local time in Iran), according to the responsible regional command US Central Command (Centcom) on platform X. The attacks aimed to "rapidly punish" the Revolutionary Guards, which had carried out attacks on American soldiers in Jordan the previous night. At the same time, they were intended to further weaken Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
