Democratic members of the US Congress have used the deaths of at least 17 US soldiers in the Iran War as an occasion for sharp criticism of President Donald Trump, accusing him of having started the conflict without a strategy.

Military Situation: Further Deaths in the Iran War

The number of officially reported US soldiers killed in the Iran War has risen to 17, according to the US military. As US Central Command (Centcom) announced on the platform X, a soldier was killed the previous day in northern Iraq during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian drone. Another soldier was injured in the incident. At the same time, the military announced that a further soldier was still missing. After a thorough search of the site, initially unidentified human remains were found; identification is ongoing.
