US diplomat Louis J. Crishock will on Wednesday provisionally assume the office of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, succeeding Christian Schmidt, whose replacement at the international level has not yet been definitively resolved.
The body responsible for the selection announced the provisional appointment on Tuesday. Crishock had previously served as Schmidt's first deputy in the Office of the High Representative (OHR) in Sarajevo. The acting leadership is intended to maintain continuity of international peace monitoring until a permanent solution is found.

According to the available information, Christian Schmidt is the previous German holder of the international Bosnia envoy office. He held the position over the past years. A definitive successor has not yet been found, as European and US representatives have been unable to agree on a candidate.
