US investment firm Castlelake confirmed on Friday that it is considering a takeover bid for the British low-cost airline Easyjet.

Easyjet's share price temporarily rose by 11 percent on the London Stock Exchange after the news became known, reaching its highest level since early March. However, Castlelake emphasized that the considerations are in an early stage and there is no certainty of an actual offer.

The British website "Betaville" had initially reported on the takeover considerations. Castlelake stated that it has not yet spoken with Easyjet's board of directors.

Easyjet responded to the speculation by stating that it insists on the best possible terms for its shareholders. In October 2025, there were already speculations about a takeover offer from Swiss shipping giant MSC, which did not materialize.
