A US federal court has temporarily halted the construction of the large ballroom planned by President Trump at the White House, ruling that Congress must first approve any expansion of the presidential residence.

A federal judge's decision in Washington means a preliminary construction stop for the ambitious project, with which the Trump administration had wanted to expand the White House with a large event hall. After reviewing the lawsuit, the court concluded that existing legal frameworks do not permit such an改造 of the historic seat of the president without the express approval of Congress. Trump is thus forced to halt the construction that has already begun, at least until a political solution is reached.
