US President Donald Trump presented plans on Monday at the White House for a new, bulletproof and drone-resistant ballroom, placing particular emphasis on security aspects.

At an event at the White House, Trump promoted the extension building, which has been under construction since autumn 2025 on the site of the former East Wing. According to the White House, the new hall is to accommodate significantly larger state banquets than the building previously used. The structure would be "kugelsicher" (bulletproof), as Trump said verbatim.

According to the White House, the extension building will cover several thousand square meters and will include a landing pad for drones on the roof. Trump said the building was in many cases even "raketensicher" (missile-proof). Particularly resilient steel and glass constructions are planned, the government headquarters added.
