Washington, July 3, 2026
The United States celebrated the 250th anniversary of their Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026 with a large "Great American State Fair" in Washington, while U.S. media are already calling the festivities a "Flop".
The celebrations for the 250th birthday of the USA in Washington are turning into a mix of grand pathos and numerous organizational mishaps. On the evening of July 4, the program includes fireworks that, according to organizers, will be the largest, longest, and most expensive ever held. The National Mall between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument provides the backdrop for the spectacle.
Even before the actual Independence Day, the kickoff got off to a rough start. At the State Fair grounds, a large Ferris wheel was temporarily out of order. Several artists had canceled their participation in the celebrations in advance because they wanted to express protest against President Donald Trump's policies. U.S. media already view Trump's festivities for the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence as a "Flop".
