The Association of German Pfandbrief Banks (VDP) is warning of a persistent housing shortage in Germany and sees rising rents and property prices as a direct consequence.

VDP Identifies Housing Shortage as Price Driver

The Association of German Pfandbrief Banks (VDP) has pointed to the strained situation on the German housing market. According to the association's assessment, the housing shortage continues to drive rents and property prices upward. The scarcity of housing thus remains a central problem for tenants, buyers, and investors.

VDP CEO Jens Tolckmitt also commented on the federal government's recent reforms. These plans aim to accelerate approval procedures and reduce construction costs through a so-called "construction turbo" and a simplified Building Type E. Tolckmitt expressly welcomed these plans.
