The 57-year-old Veit Dengler, co-founder of the Neos, has spoken out extensively in a podcast interview about his expulsion from the party and the parliamentary group, making serious allegations against parliamentary group leader Beate Meinl-Reisinger.

In the podcast "Die Milchbar" by the daily newspaper KURIER, Dengler talked about the personal pain of the break with the party he had launched in 2011 together with Matthias Strolz in a bakery in Vienna-Liesing. "Rein persönlich ist es ein relativ hoher Schmerz, weil Neos natürlich mit mein Baby ist", said Dengler about the separation.

On July 10, 2026, Dengler was expelled from the Neos parliamentary group. The party justified the move with a prior, unannounced "no" vote by Dengler on a budget chapter. Dengler himself is convinced that his expulsion had been planned beforehand. In a press release, the Neos stated that the trust of his parliamentary group colleagues had been "letztlich endgültig zerstört".
