Max Verstappen has expressed dissatisfaction with the current F1 powertrain technology while simultaneously confirming his commitment to remain in Formula 1 until at least 2027.
The Dutch driver specifically criticized the current power distribution between the combustion engine and the battery, which stands at 50% each. "Unless something completely crazy happens—but I don’t expect that," Verstappen said verbatim.
For the upcoming season, an adjustment favoring the combustion engine is planned. Verstappen hopes this will improve the situation: "I hope everyone keeps their word. But I can confirm I’m staying in Formula 1."
The Red Bull driver also lamented how battery charging affects racing style, sometimes forcing drivers to lift off in sections where they would normally accelerate fully.
