Max Verstappen told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf in Montreal on Friday that he will “auf jeden Fall” (in any case) stay in Formula 1 in 2027, while also revealing his wish to remain with Red Bull Racing forever.
Verstappen, a four-time world champion, has not finished on the podium so far this season as drivers adapt to new power unit rules introduced this year. The 28-year-old’s commitment ends speculation about his future, though he added a small caveat. “Es sei denn, es passieren ganz verrückte Dinge, aber davon gehe ich nicht aus,” he said — unless very crazy things happen, but he doesn’t expect that.
The Dutchman made clear his emotional tie to the team that has powered all four of his titles. “Das habe ich immer gesagt,” Verstappen stated when asked about wanting to spend the rest of his driving career at Red Bull.
