Vienna, June 9, 2026

The plenary assembly of the Vienna Medical Association will decide on Tuesday evening on a motion of no confidence against President Johannes Steinhart as well as on a motion for early new elections.

The plenary assembly of the Vienna Medical Association on Tuesday evening is considered the climax of a conflict that has been smoldering for months at the top of the professional association. President Johannes Steinhart faces two motions aimed at his removal: a motion of no confidence brought by seven chamber members – including representatives of the list of former president Thomas Szekeres – as well as a motion for the early dissolution of the plenary assembly, which would trigger new elections.
