The Vienna start-up Eustella launched an AI app on Thursday that is positioned as a European alternative to ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude and runs on servers in Europe under German jurisdiction.
According to the company, the app was already tested by around 5,000 users prior to the official launch and is available immediately for iPhone, Android, and on the web. CEO Matteo Rosoli spoke of an "Erster Schritt zur Souveränität" and explained: "Wir warten nicht darauf, dass Europa digital unabhängig wird. eustella macht es heute möglich." The start-up is headquartered at the hub of AI Factory Austria AI:AT in Vienna.
Data sovereignty and technological control remain 100% in Europe, as Rosoli emphasized. "Nutzerdaten werden niemals für das Training von KI-Modellen verwendet," the company announcement states. IONOS CLOUD serves as the cloud infrastructure, which according to its own information operates all services under German jurisdiction with its headquarters in Germany. Servers are located, among other places, in Berlin and Frankfurt. With this, Eustella aims to prevent European data from falling under US jurisdiction via the US CLOUD Act, as the founder explained.
