The Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG approved on Tuesday a future plan for the Group that is intended to define the economic realignment of the automaker in the coming years.
The meeting of the control body in Wolfsburg lasted several hours. According to information from Group circles, the package of measures submitted by the Board of Management was approved with the required majority. Negotiations between the company management and the employee side had preceded the approval.
At the center of the plan is the future distribution of production capacities across the German sites. The sites in Hanover, Zwickau, Neckarsulm, and Emden were repeatedly mentioned in discussions over the past weeks. Volkswagen employs several tens of thousands of workers at these plants combined.
