Walter Ruck is facing massive pressure over leaked meeting minutes. The Wirtschaftsbund leadership is backing him for the time being, while the opposition and parts of the Chamber of Commerce are demanding the resignation of the President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce. The Vienna ÖVP is also distancing itself, but points to the Chamber of Commerce.
The President of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, Walter Ruck, is facing growing calls to resign following the publication of leaked minutes from a confidential men's gathering, while the Wirtschaftsbund, which he controls, is for now backing the ÖVP politician.
The magazines profil and Kronen Zeitung had published meeting transcripts in which Ruck, according to quotes, is said to have placed his own and his family's interests above those of the Viennese economy. According to the transcripts, the minutes also contain the sentence that his Vice President Margarete Kriz-Zwittkovits had „einen Befehl bekommen, sie hat salutiert und hat gesagt: Okay, ich verzichte. Und hat meinen Sohn vorgeschlagen und hat für ihn gekämpft“. Kriz-Zwittkovits did not run again as the ÖVP's lead candidate in Döbling in 2025; Ruck's son ran there as the ÖVP's lead candidate but failed to win a seat.
