Hong Kong, May 5, 2026
More than 240 homeowners at Wang Fuk Court have formally petitioned the government-appointed administrator to convene an extraordinary general meeting within 45 days to address pressing concerns about the estate's management.
Legal Threshold Exceeded
The petition, signed by 247 owners representing over 12 per cent of households in the Hong Kong estate, far exceeds the legal requirement under the Building Management Ordinance. The ordinance mandates that the chairman of the management committee must convene a general meeting within 14 days of receiving a written request from at least 5 per cent of owners. The law also stipulates that such a meeting must be held within 45 days of the request.
Homeowners have demanded that the meeting include government representatives and media coverage. They emphasized their intent to discuss critical issues, including financial transparency, insurance claims, and the handling of contracts with Prestige Construction & Engineering and consultant Will Power Architects Company. If the administrator, Hop On Management, fails to comply, the owners have threatened to escalate the matter to the Lands Tribunal.
