Berlin, 16 July 2026
At the presentation of its 2025 annual report in Berlin, Welthungerhilfe warned of a worsening of the global hunger crisis as a result of cuts to Germany's development budget.
Mathias Mogge, Secretary General of Welthungerhilfe, criticized at the presentation of the report that funding for development cooperation had declined over the past two years. "Zudem hätten die Zuschüsse aus Deutschland in den vergangenen zwei Jahren abgenommen", said Mogge. This trend is being continued in the current government draft for the 2027 federal budget: "Diese würden auch im aktuellen Regierungsentwurf zum Bundeshaushalt 2027 fortgeschrieben", he further explained.
