The Aesthetics of the Alien Hunt

A central element of the site is an interactive 'Alien Arrest Map,' which, according to its own information, shows nationwide arrests by the immigration authority ICE in real-time. A live counter also documents over 3.1 million 'Encounters' – a term from the Department of Homeland Security that includes arrests, encounters at entry points, and deportation proceedings, without specifying a time frame.

The website also contains a list of case files spanning nearly 3,000 pages. A linked online form allows citizens to report suspicious individuals directly to ICE. A note at the bottom of the page promises that reported individuals will be safely returned to their place of origin.

The narrative design of the site frames illegal immigration as a long-held secret. The scrolling text states verbatim: 'They shopped in the same stores, attended the same schools as our children, and lived seemingly normal human existences. With one exception – they do not belong here.' The site concludes with the call to action: 'The cover-up is over. Secure the border. Deport them all.'

Deadly Operations and Political Resistance

The release comes at a time of ongoing protests against mass arrests and deportations in the US. According to the American Immigration Council, around 73,000 people were in ICE custody in mid-January. ICE data shows approximately 528,000 arrests since 2021.

ICE operations have repeatedly led to fatal incidents. On January 7, 2026, an ICE officer shot Renee Good in Minneapolis when her car blocked federal agents. On January 24, 2026, a Customs and Border Protection officer killed intensive care nurse Alex Pretti while he was filming an operation and assisting a woman who had been pushed by an officer.

Meanwhile, President Trump failed to get approximately $70 billion in additional funding for ICE and border patrol through the Senate. Republican senators blocked the budget and put the proposal on hold. Internal disputes over a compensation fund for Trump allies were cited as the reason.

Criticism of Dehumanization

Critics describe the methods of the US government and ICE as inhumane and racist. The staging of deportations as a science fiction scenario is seen as another attempt to dehumanize migrants and foster a climate of fear.

The Aliens.gov website remains an active element of the White House's communication strategy and reflects the Trump administration's persistently tough stance on immigration policy.
