In the WHO European Region, 566,000 children have no vaccination protection at all; in Germany, according to WHO and Unicef, the figure is 21,000 – at the same time, the organizations criticize the low HPV vaccination rate among girls.

Decline, but High Absolute Numbers

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN children's fund Unicef, the number of children without any vaccination protection in the WHO European Region – which also includes Turkey and Israel – fell over the past year. A total of 566,000 children lacked any protection, while a further 258,000 children were only insufficiently protected. Compared to 2024, this represents a decrease of 43,000 children without any vaccination.
