The Buch-St. Magdalena police station has launched an investigation on suspicion of negligent bodily harm. East Styrian security spokesperson Roland Nöhrer pointed out that, under Styrian dog law, special conditions up to and including seizure of the animal are possible in documented biting incidents. The Graz public prosecutor's office will decide on any further steps after the file has been submitted.

Dog handlers from Styria point out in statements that even breeds classified as listed dogs, such as the Doberman, only become conspicuous when owners fail to comply with animal welfare requirements. They are calling for mandatory proof of competence.
