Wolfsberger AC parts ways with coach Silberberger and brings in Schmid

Background: Silberberger's time at the WAC

Manfred Schmid, who was most recently at WSG Tirol and has experience as a coach in the Austrian Bundesliga, was introduced as the new head coach. Schmid receives a contract at the WAC and is to realign the team sportingly. The length of the contract and the coaching team were not initially reported in detail.

Schmid thus faces the task of bringing the club from Carinthia back on track to success. In the upcoming competitive matches of the Admiral Bundesliga, it will be seen whether the new coach can quickly set accents. Sportingly, the WAC currently ranks in the middle of the table and needs points to establish a connection to the upper half of the table.

The new coach: Manfred Schmid

The WAC officials emphasized that the decision had been made in the interest of the club's sporting development. They thanked Silberberger for his work and wished him all the best for the future. At the same time, they expressed their confidence in Schmid and referred to his previous stations in Austrian professional football.

Other Austrian clubs such as Wiener Austria had also relied on coaching changes several times in recent years in order to set new impulses. With the personnel change, the WAC follows a common pattern in the league when sporting results fall short of expectations. The fans in the Lavanttal hope for a stabilization of performances from the new coaching staff.

Outlook on the upcoming tasks

Schmid himself expressed confidence about his new task and announced that he wanted to build the team on existing strengths. He referred to the quality in the squad and the opportunities the club offers. A first acid test awaits the WAC already in the upcoming league matches.

Schmid's successor at his previous club Tirol as well as possible changes in the WAC's coaching staff were initially not communicated in detail. The club announced that further information on squad planning and the coaching team would be published in due course.
