A Chinese woman who had been living in Austria died on Sunday, 28 June 2026, on the "Wegerl im Helenental" near Baden an der Schwechat after suffering a cardiac arrest during a walk.

According to the district fire brigade command, the woman had been out on the narrow forest path directly beside the Schwechat river together with her husband when she collapsed. Despite immediately initiated resuscitation, all help came too late. The woman died at the scene.

First responders who witnessed the incident triggered the rescue chain via the emergency call. In addition, the so-called Lifesaver App was activated, mobilising additional first responders in the surrounding area. By the time the fire brigade arrived, a rescue team from the Red Cross with an emergency physician, a private doctor, and police units were already waiting at the hard-to-reach location.
