WSG Tirol celebrates first league season win with 4:0 in Lustenau

With the win, WSG Tirol cut the gap to promoted side Austria Lustenau to a single point – though they have one make-up game in hand. As a result, the table situation in the upper third of the league has tightened again, particularly as the Tyroleans had recently had to wait a long time for their first league three-pointer.

Several players stood out in the match. Nikolai Baden Frederiksen, mentioned 18 times in the coverage, was the night's most prominent player. Phillip Böhm and Moritz Oswald also had a major impact on the game, with the 24-year-old Oswald reportedly playing a central role in the visitors' attacking play.

Michael Olakigbe also contributed a goal, including one with a volley, according to the match reports. Husein Balic rounded off a strong team performance from the Tyroleans, who prevailed over Lustenau in all areas of the pitch.

The reactions after the game

Coach Mader gave a measured assessment of the win after the final whistle. "It would be madness if everything worked perfectly after five rounds," said the coach, looking at a season that is still very young. The win is important, but merely a first step in a long campaign.

For Austria Lustenau, who had collected one more point the previous week, the defeat is a setback in the battle for the upper places in the table. The team managed by coach Markus Mader – note: not to be confused with the WSG coach of the same name – lost clearly at home and must stabilize their performances over the coming weeks.

Impact on the table

Looking ahead to the upcoming tasks, Mader stressed that the team still needs patience. The Tyroleans now have an initial small run, but in the league, consistency decides success. The 4:0 away win should therefore be seen as a signal of a fresh start.

In the Bundesliga table, WSG Tirol are moving closer to the top group thanks to the three points. With one game fewer played, the gap to Austria Lustenau is now only one point. The situation ahead of the next matchday is therefore wide open and promises excitement in the promotion race.

WSG Tirol's next game comes after the international break. The team will then look to build on their performance in Lustenau. For Austria Lustenau, on the other hand, the focus is on finding a response to the heavy home defeat.

The mood in the Tyrolean camp after the final whistle was cautiously optimistic. Initial reactions said they know the quality of their own team. The task now is to carry this performance into the coming weeks and continue to pick up points.
