Würzburg, June 25, 2026

The Würzburg Regional Court sentenced a 30-year-old prostitute on Thursday to two years and ten months in prison for fraud and extortion of, among others, a retired Catholic priest.

The conviction came after a deal among the parties involved in the trial. The prosecution had previously argued for an overall sentence of three and a half years in prison, while the defense had argued for two and a half years. The verdict is not yet final.

According to the findings of the indictment, the woman met the retired priest in 2016 at a sauna club in Würzburg. In 2022, the man became her client. In January 2023, the woman told the Catholic clergyman — who was obligated to sexual abstinence — about an alleged leukemia.
