Austrian football international Xaver Schlager is, according to media reports, on the verge of a transfer to Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League, where he would meet up with Oliver Glasner.
As the sports portal "The Athletic" reported on Wednesday, Austria's international is set to commit to the club for two years plus an option. The contract in Nottingham is reported to run until 2028, with the possibility of an additional season, the portal added. The broadcaster Sky reportedly confirmed the information. Schlager would thus move to the Premier League on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at RB Leipzig.
Schlager is 28 years old and plays in midfield. According to available statistics, he has earned 55 caps for the Austrian national team. At RB Leipzig, he was under contract for four years and made 108 competitive appearances during that time. His spell in Saxony was repeatedly interrupted by injuries that set him back.
