Munich, 28 May 2026
Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, is opening its first international branch in Germany, with educational centers planned for Munich and Leipzig.
A Historic First for Yad Vashem
The initiative marks a historic step for the Jerusalem-based institution, which has never before established a permanent facility outside Israel. The new centers will focus on training educators and developing pedagogical tools for Holocaust education.
In Leipzig, a "Yad Vashem Educational Center" will be created primarily for teachers and educational professionals. The facility aims to serve as a bridge to Eastern Europe, according to Saxon officials.
