A court in Seoul sentenced former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Friday to 30 years in prison in connection with military drone flights over North Korea, the Yonhap news agency reported.

Indictment and Verdict

The Seoul District Court found him guilty of abuse of power and aiding the enemy, the Yonhap news agency reported. A spokesperson for the Seoul Central District Court said Yoon was given „30 years in prison“ for the charges, without providing further details.

The jailed conservative politician, who once served as the country's top prosecutor, had already been sentenced to life in prison in February. A court had convicted him of insurrection for his attempt to impose martial law. Friday's verdict is therefore added to that sentence.
