Kyiv, September 24, 2026

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced another meeting with US President Donald Trump, which according to Ukrainian sources will concern military support for Kyiv in the war against Russia.

Stalled Talks as Trigger

The announcement follows a phase of stalled negotiations. According to Ukrainian representatives, the talks with Washington had come to a standstill last winter, necessitating the search for new ways of coordination between Kyiv and the White House.

At the center of Zelensky's demands for months has been the delivery of modern air defense missiles from the United States. According to Ukraine's own account, the country needs these systems to defend itself against Russian ballistic missile attacks. The repeated appeals to Washington have so far only been partially successful.
