In Magdeburg, a 13-year-old was punched in the face on Monday evening when he tried to mediate a dispute during a poster-hanging campaign for the AfD.

Course of the Incident

According to his mother, Tatiana Gropius, the teenager was in the area of the state parliament in Saxony-Anhalt when a verbal altercation occurred with an as-yet-unidentified cyclist. When her son tried to intervene as a mediator, the man punched him in the face. The mother described the incident to MDR and made it public.

The suspected attacker fled the scene by bicycle. The Magdeburg police opened an investigation and are searching for the man. As MDR reported, the suspect had not been apprehended at the time of reporting. Investigators are reviewing the sequence of events and any possible connection to the AfD poster-hanging campaign.
