Vienna, June 05, 2026
A worldwide audience of 131 million people watched the final of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna's Stadthalle on television, as announced by ORF on Friday.
Reach Despite Boycott
The reach thus exceeded expectations, even though Iceland, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, and Slovenia boycotted the competition. These five countries had collectively accounted for around 28 million viewers the previous year. ORF Executive Producer Michael Krön spoke of a success despite adverse circumstances.
In approximately one-third of the measured markets, reach increased compared to the previous year. Finland achieved the highest market share worldwide with 92.8 percent, followed by Sweden with 85.5 percent. In the British Isles, 90 percent of viewers saw the show as an "impressive stage and technology." However, organizers recorded declines in Poland, Great Britain, and France.
