Innsbruck, July 31, 2026

The Directorate for State Security and Intelligence Service (DSN) has arrested a 14-year-old student in Tyrol who is accused of planning a terror attack on Jewish and Muslim institutions.

According to investigators, the teenager is said to come from the greater Innsbruck area and to have made concrete preparations for an attack over an extended period. The DSN classifies the case as serious and has taken over the investigation because there are indications of a terrorist motivation. The student was arrested at his residence in the presence of his legal guardians, the authority said.

At the center of the investigation is the accusation that the 14-year-old not only planned an attack but also intended to livestream it on the internet. According to state security, such a livestream could have produced a significant propagandistic effect. Investigators are therefore examining the extent to which the teenager had already established contact with extremist networks at home and abroad.
