At the Dielsdorf District Court, the trial began on Wednesday against a defendant who is now 17 years old and is alleged to have life-threateningly injured an Orthodox Jew in Zurich with a steak knife in March 2024.

The Unterland Juvenile Prosecutor's Office accuses the defendant, who was 15 at the time of the offense, of multiple counts of attempted murder, supporting a criminal organization, discrimination and incitement to hatred, as well as possessing and distributing content that glorifies violence. It is requesting a prison sentence of one year along with several protective measures, including individual supervision, outpatient treatment, and placement in a facility. For defendants who were younger than 16 at the time of the offense, this represents the maximum available penalty.
