Hamden, July 2, 2026
In the U.S. state of Ohio, investigators have freed 16 children and adolescents aged one and a half to 18 from a house in the town of Hamden and arrested four adult family members on suspicion of severe child endangerment.
Discovery during another investigation
According to authorities, the residents of the house in the small town of Hamden in Vinton County lived for years under conditions that Attorney General Andy Wilson described as "sheer evil." The children, aged between one and 18, were discovered during a search of the building, Wilson said on Wednesday (local time) at a press conference. The house was located behind dense brush and trees on the edge of the community of fewer than 1,000 residents, so neighbors apparently never noticed the children's existence.
