An 18-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a seven-day-old infant from a clinic in Lüdenscheid. The baby was found unharmed in a parking garage about an hour later and was given a medical examination.
An 18-year-old woman from Lüdenscheid was provisionally arrested on Sunday on suspicion of having kidnapped a seven-day-old infant from a clinic.
According to the public prosecutor's office, the young woman is alleged to have disguised herself as a hospital employee and taken a newborn from a clinic. "Die Frau hatte den Jungen laut Polizei am Samstagnachmittag aus einem Patientenzimmer geholt," it was reported. The infant was taken from the room on Saturday at around 2:00 p.m.
Less than an hour after the incident, witnesses discovered the boy in an adjoining room of a parking garage. The seven-day-old baby was neither injured nor overheated, a spokesperson for the Hagen public prosecutor's office said. An ambulance subsequently took him back to the hospital.
