Investigations into the cause of the accident

The exact cause of the accident is still the subject of ongoing investigations. As the police further stated, it will be examined whether excessive speed, a technical defect on the racing bicycle, a health problem of the cyclist, or a driving error in connection with the road's course may have played a role. Reliable statements will only be possible after the completion of the investigations and, if commissioned, an expert opinion.

Brandenberger Straße (L4) is a state road in the Tyrolean Lower Inn Valley and runs through the Brandenberg Valley. It runs in part through curvy sections along rock faces and through forested terrain. Cyclists appreciate the route for its panorama, but it places increased demands on concentration and skill, particularly on wet road surfaces or in changing light conditions.

According to police, the emergency services arrived at the accident site quickly. In addition to the police, the rescue service and an emergency doctor were also deployed. For the duration of the recovery and investigation work, Brandenberger Straße had to be closed in the affected section. The road was not reopened until later in the afternoon.

In the Kramsach area and the Kufstein district, there have been repeated serious cycling accidents in recent years, involving racing cyclists, recreational cyclists, and e-bike users. The Tyrol State Police Directorate did not provide further details regarding the notification of the relatives. However, it was said that everything would be done to care for the victim's family and to offer psychological assistance to the relatives.
