Munich, October 4, 2026
The 191st Oktoberfest on Munich's Theresienwiese officially came to an end late on Monday evening, after the city had already announced a new visitor record at the halfway point.
After just one week, 3.8 million people had visited the folk festival on the Theresienwiese this year – 300,000 more than the year before and even 400,000 more than in the previous record year of 2023. The current Wiesn thus significantly surpassed the previous comparison figures and set an early marker for an overall above-average outcome.
The Oktoberfest, which took place for the 191st time this year, is the world's largest folk festival and attracts millions of visitors from Germany and abroad every year. The Theresienwiese in the heart of Munich is transformed for around two weeks into a small city of beer tents, rides, and festival booths. Once again this year, rides such as the Freefall Tower were among the attractions that drew attention beyond the traditional beer halls.
