Munich's Oktoberfest celebrated its halfway point on Sunday with an open-air concert on the Theresienwiese and, according to the festival management, welcomed around 3.8 million guests in its first week. Compared with the previous year, the Wiesn management spoke of an increase of roughly 300,000 visitors in the first seven days.

This puts the figure above last year's level, when organizers had counted around 3.5 million guests in the first week. The festival management sees the turnout as confirmation that steering visitor flows across the week has worked.
