A 42-year-old Austrian man threatened police officers with a firearm on Monday in Vienna-Donaustadt and was subsequently arrested.

The incident occurred on Monday morning in the area of Wagramer Straße in Vienna's 22nd district. According to police, the man had previously been involved in a dispute connected to the end of a relationship. When emergency responders arrived at the scene, the 42-year-old threatened the officers with a firearm.

The police officers responded with an immediate arrest of the man, according to APA. The Cobra special operations unit was also deployed. According to current information, no one was injured. The exact circumstances of the threat are still being investigated.

Arrest and Cobra deployment

Following the arrest, an entry and approach ban as well as a provisional weapons ban were imposed on the man. These measures were ordered by the court and are effective immediately. The 42-year-old is thereby prohibited from approaching the residence or whereabouts of certain persons and from possessing or carrying weapons.
