A 52-year-old man fell into a stream and drowned in the early hours of Sunday in St. Kathrein am Hauenstein (district of Weiz, Styria) after attending a village festival.

Leaving the festival and a short stop at the bridge

The local man had attended a festival in the village of 613 souls on Saturday evening and left the celebrations around 11 p.m. According to police, he set off on foot to walk home. Shortly afterward, he took a short break to relieve himself. He did this near the bridge at "Untere Zeil."

He suddenly lost his balance, fell into the stream bed below, and drowned. The man, who according to police was likely intoxicated, was unable to save himself from the water.
