A 57-year-old man plunged about twenty meters into the depths with an excavator in the Carinthian municipality of Brückl on Wednesday, was thrown from the cab and seriously injured.
Course of the accident
According to the emergency services, the man was working with an excavator in a section of terrain near the locality of Terpetzen when the heavy machinery slid around twenty meters into the depths for reasons that have yet to be clarified. Upon impact, the 57-year-old was thrown from the driver's cab, the fire brigade reported.
After the accident, the man was initially given medical treatment on site. Subsequently, according to the emergency services, he was transported gently by rescue helicopter to the UKH Klagenfurt accident hospital.
