An 82-year-old farmer was seriously injured on Thursday during haymaking work in Upper Styria when he got caught in a rotary tedder attached to a tractor; police report life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred on Thursday in St. Lambrecht in the district of Murau in Upper Styria, as reported by the Styrian State Police Directorate. According to reports, the 82-year-old was engaged in haymaking when, for reasons still unclear, he became caught in the rotary tedder attached to the tractor. Emergency services were alerted shortly thereafter.

First responders and the rescue chain that arrived in the meantime provided care to the man at the scene. Due to the severity of the injuries, an emergency medical helicopter was requested, which airlifted the victim to the UKH Klagenfurt (Accident Hospital Klagenfurt). The attending physicians determined a life-threatening condition, according to police.
