A 64-year-old Austrian painter suffered a fall from scaffolding on Saturday morning during painting work in Sölden in the Ötztal valley for reasons that are still unknown, and was seriously injured.

According to the Sölden police, the man had been carrying out painting work on the second floor of a building. In order to carry out covering work on a wall approximately five meters high, the 64-year-old additionally placed a wooden ladder onto the scaffolding. For reasons that are still unknown, the painter tipped off the scaffolding and fell to the ground.

The fallen man sustained serious injuries. „Der Mann musste mit schweren Verletzungen mittels Hubschrauber in die Universitätsklinik Innsbruck eingeliefert werden“, the police added. A patrol from the Sölden police had rushed to the scene of the accident.
