Unclear Cause of the Accident

It remains unclear why the 37-year-old Austrian fell from the crane's cabin. The responsible authorities are now examining whether technical defects on the crane, an operational error, or other circumstances may have caused the fall. The accident occurred in the course of hay work — typical seasonal agricultural tasks that arise on numerous farms in Tyrol during the summer months. During such operations on alpine pastures and mountain farms, mobile cranes are frequently used to move hay bales or lift feed into higher storage areas.
